A 1793 Christmas with Major General & Mrs. Wait
Our most historical home in the Mad River Valley is decorated for Christmas inside and out. Carolers on the porch and eggnog and a warm fireplace to greet you on the inside. There you will find the General and his lovely wife to beguile you with stories of what Christmas was like in 1793 frontier Waitsfield.
The Waitsfield Historical Society will present an event entitled "a General Wait Christmas" for Saturday, November 30, from approximately 4 PM to 8 PM at the General Wait house, 4061 Main St., Waitsfield, VT.
This event is meant to be a fun and educational event for all ages, with a heavy emphasis on younger people. Major General and Mrs. Wait will be present to give historical orations about early life in Waitsfield and greet all of their guests. There will be photo opportunities. Mrs. Wait and her helpers will have cookies and hot chocolate for the children. Further, the little ones can color ornaments that they can hang on the Wait's Christmas tree, bring or write letters to Santa Claus that will be answered by him. (must have returned address) Local singers will be present to sing Christmas carols. If inspired, please join singing along with them.
Parking is available at the Town Office's parking lot and at the Waitsfield Elementary School.
This event is free. Donations to the Waitsfield Historical Society gladly accepted.
