Gravesite Walk  was enjoyed by 17 people. The Waitsfield site consisted of many Stoddard family members of late 1700's & 1800's. The Center Fayston site was a very small graveyard. we were very pleased that the weather cooperated nicely.
Walking Tour
historical photo of Wait houseThe Waitsfield Historical Society prepared a self guided tour for the Bicentennial, 1791-1991 titled "Waitsfield Village Historic District Walking Tour ". It takes you along Rt. 100 from the Gen. Wait House, to the Covered Bridge on Bridge Street and back, telling the story of homes built in the 1800's. The Gen. Wait House is the only one built in 1793 but moved to it's present location around 1830. Brochures can be picked up at the Information Center at the Gen. Wait House at no charge which is always open..

A delicious lasagna dinner was enjoyed.

19th Century Furniture and Quilts from the WHS Collection. This exhibition draws on some of the local antique items in the WHS collection. Featured is an 1820s tall case clock (grandfather clock) long in the Joslin family. Also a Maple "sack back" rocking chair and a beautifully crafted side chair made around 1830 by a member of the Bushnell/Jones family. Several more chairs, tables and a bedstead from the Wait family, along with locally made quilts fill out the the General Wait house on Route 100 next to the firehouse.
